Abstract

Escherichia coli is one of the main species of gram-negative bacteria. Bacterial colonization is affecting the condition of the human body. And most are found in aquatic environments. Therefore, researchers are trying to do an experiment that is by sterilizing UV ligh

Ultraviolet sterilizer is one type of sterilizer that used in medicine. Where this is not a good sterilize, but compared with other sterilizer which there may be differences in power consumption, the effectivenesse and efficiency UV sterilizer, the principal use is in ultraviolet rays generated from the UV lamp. Ultraviolet sterilizer will be shone on the device in a container, and the microorganisms contained in the device is die to be a condition that is free from a moicroorganism.

In this study will be measured to determine the effectiveness of the UV sterilizer against e coli bacteria, which will be conducted using irradiation with 2-3 lamps with 15 watt lamp size and time of 5 – 30 minutes. From the results of experiments showed that irradiation with 3 lights more effective than the two lights, and at the time of 15 minutes the bacteria E coli has begun sterilized for 30 minutes so that water can already be said to be sterile.
