PERBEDAAN HASIL PERTUMBUHAN JAMUR Candida albicans PADA MEDIA POTATO DEXTROSA AGAR DENGAN MEDIA MODIFIKASI CORN SUKROSA AGAR

Abstract


Media is a mixture of certain materials with distilled water mold that can grow on certain acidity.
One of the media used to breed a fungi that is Potato Dextrose Agar or commonly referred to as a
PDA. PDA is a component of the potato extract as a source of carbohydrates, dextrose as an
additive, and that the compactor. Potatoes as nutrition on PDA has a lower carbohydrate content
than corn. In addition, dextrose contained on the PDA is more difficult to be obtained, so that the
writer wants to replace with sucrose or table sugar which is called the modified media named Corn
Sucrose Agar or CSA. CSA media tested is effectiveness for the growth of the fungi Candida
albicans, are opportunistic pathogens in humans and in certain circumstances this fungi is able to
cause infection and tissue damage. The results obtained were compared to the PDA as the Gold
Standard. The writer made experiment in the Laboratory of  Mycology Department of Health
Analyst polytechnic Kemenkes Surabaya on 11 May to 15 May 2014, with 5 treatments that did in
triplo samples, to determine whether or not the differences between two media. Media that has
been planted with Candida albicans were incubated at 37 º C for 5-7 days, then observed growth.
The results of macroscopic and microscopic investigation of pure propagation of the fungi Candida
albicans, it showed positive results fungi Candida albicans. The growth of the fungi Candida
albicans on PDA with media modifications CSA showed that it very lush growth of the fungi Candida
albicans. This showed that there is no difference in the growth of the fungi Candida albicans on
PDA with media modifications CSA
