UJI EFEK ANTIBAKTERI PERASAAN BUAH LABU SIAM (Sechium edule) TERHADAP PERTUMBUHAN BAKTERI Staphylococcus aureus
Abstract
ABSTRACT
Impetigo, a contagious skin disease affects children aged 2-5 years around the world. The main cause of
impetigo is Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Staphylococcus aureus, part of the normal human flora, ca n cause
serious infections. Chayote (Sechium edule), a fruit that can be used as herbal medicine. Chayote contains
antibacterial compounds in the form of flavonoids, polyphenols and saponins. The purpose of the study was t o
determine the antibacterial effect of chayote (Sechium edule) on the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria.
The experimental research was carried out from December to June 2019 at the Health Analyst Department of the
Health Polytechnic of the Ministry of Health Surabaya. Testing the disk diffusion method. The t e st material
used was chayote juice (Sechium edule) with concentrations of 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%. Bla nk disks were
immersed in this concentration for 60 minutes, placed on Mueller Hinton Agar media which had been inoculated
with Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. The results of the study of the Inhibitory Level of the Chayote fruit juice at
a concentration of 50% with an average diameter of 8 mm of the inhibition zone. Results of Minimum Killing
Rate of chayote (Sechium edule) juice against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria did not have a concentration t hat
was able to kill Staphylococus aureus bacteria. Data analysis was carried out using t he Kruskal Wa lis t est
because the data were normally distributed and heterogeneous.

ABSTRAK
Impetigo, penyakit kulit menular menyerang anak-anak usia 2-5 tahun di seluruh dunia. Penyebab ut ama
impetigo adalah bakteri Staphylococcus aureus. Staphylococcus aureus, bagian dari flora normal manusia, dapat
menyebabkan infeksi serius. Buah labu siam (Sechium edule), buah yang dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai obat
herbal. Buah labu siam mengandung senyawa antibakteri berupa flavonoid, polif enol dan saponin. Tuj uan
penelitian mengetahui adanya efek antibakteri buah labu siam (Sechium edule) terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri
Staphylococcus aureus. Penelitian bersifat eksperimental dilaksanakan pada bulan Desember sampai Juni 2019
di Jurusan Analis Kesehatan Poltekkes Kemenkes Surabaya. Pengujian metode difusi disk. Bahan uj i ya ng
digunakan perasan buah labu siam (Sechium edule) konsentrasi 25%, 50%, 75% dan 100%. Blank disk
direndam dalam konsentrasi tersebut selama 60 menit, diletakkan pada media Mueller Hinton Agar yang t ela h
diinokulasikan bakteri Staphylococcus aureus. Hasil penelitian Kadar Hambat Minumum perasan buah la bu
siam pada konsentrasi 50% dengan diameter rata-rata zona hambat 8 mm. Hasil Kadar Bunuh Minimum perasan
buah labu siam (Sechium edule) terhadap bakteri Staphylococcus aureus tidak terdapat konsentrasi yang mampu
membunuh bakteri Staphylococus aureus. Analisa data dila kukan dengan uji Kruskal Wal is karena data
berdistribusi normal dan heterogen.
