MICROCONTROLLER BASED INFRARED EAR THERMOMETER
Abstract
Ear thermometer used to measure body temperature. Body temperature was obtained by measuring the heat via infrared rays released by the body. Use of this tool is simply putting the device in the ear, and then press a button and then read LCD which directly displays the measurement results.
Human body temperature tends to fluctuate at any time. Many factors can cause fluctuations in body temperature. Fluctuation excessive temperatures can cause hypothermia and hypertherm, to cope with changing body condition drastically because of differences in body temperature of the environment, typically used Thermometer. However, most digital thermometer takes ± 3 minutes to find out the measurement results.
To overcome these problems the authors designed the instrument with the name "Digital Infrared Ear Thermometer Based Microcontroller". The author here using MLX90247 sensor (thermopile Discrete Infrared Detectors) as a passive infrared sensor that functioned for receiving infrared energy from the ear, and take advantage of MlX90313 as a signal conditioner IC with ADC (Analog to Digital Converter).
Based on data retrieval display body temperature compared with the Ear Thermometer "Thermo Buddy TB-100" results obtained error value by an average of 0.61% for the left ear and the error average of 0.79% for the right ear.
Of the whole process of making this module authors draw the conclusion that is, the instrument can measure the body's normal temperature is between 35 - 37 ° C (measurement in the ear) quickly ie ± 3 seconds. From the analysis of measurement error value indicates that the tool created to meet the standart and feasible for use.
