Abstract

Klien pasca operasi mayor  cenderung mengalami intensitas nyeri sedang sampai berat.

INTENSITY OF PAIN CLIENTS POSTOPERATIVE MAYOR

IN ISLAM HOSPITAL JEMURSARI SURABAYA

ABSTRACT

Postoperative pain is normal, but nevertheless pain is one of the complaints most feared by postoperative clients. The pain intensity varies from mild to severe pain but decreases with healing. If the pain is not controlled, it can cause the client's rehabilitation process to be delayed and hospitalization takes a long time. The purpose of this study was to determine the intensity of client pain after major surgery at the Jemursari Islamic Hospital in Surabaya. This type of research is a descriptive study in the form of a case study. The sample size was 33 clients who were selected by incidental sampling technique. The independent variable was the type of major surgery, while the dependent variable was postoperative pain intensity. Data were collected using questionnaires, observation sheets, interviews and medical records. Data collection characteristics and type of operation using records from medical records, measurement of pain using a numerical rating scales. The results of data collection and data processing using qualitative descriptive analysis techniques by finding the number of frequencies and percentages, and presented in the form of a frequency distribution table. The results showed that almost all (80.00%) underwent abdominal surgery, a small proportion (13.33%) had head surgery and (6.67%) had thoracic surgery. Most (60.00%) clients experienced moderate pain, and a small proportion (23.33%) had severe pain and (16.67%) mild pain. Post major surgery clients tend to experience moderate to severe pain intensity. It is suggested to the nurse to teach ways to reduce pain intensity before the client undergoes surgery and provide appropriate pain reduction intervention
